Plakton joins "The Race for The Cure"
In Plakton we don't just care about caring for and defending the planet, marine ecosystems and the animals that live in them. We are also moved by commitment to people, and society. In this month of October in which the need to remind society of the commitment in the fight against Breast Cancer is revealed, from Plakton we announce our support in “The Race of The Cure” (Race for the Cure), one of the most important solidarity races in the US
"The Race of The Cure", to be held in the city of San Diego (California) on November 3, is an event held annually by the hand of the Susan G. Komen® Breast Cancer Foundation. This international non-governmental organization created in 1982, has a network of more than 75,000 volunteers, and aims to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
Participants will be able to make the journey walked or running, and their march will serve as a message of unity, support and commitment to those affected by this malignant tumor that produces 42,260 deaths a year worldwide. There will also be time to honor the survivors and to commemorate both those affected and their families. An act, no doubt, as emotional as necessary.
In previous editions "The Race of The Cure", it has summoned a thousand participants. This year, an influx of about 10,000 people is expected. Thanks to the solidarity and commitment of all employees, funds of great importance will be raised to carry out analyzes, medical examinations, treatments, education and national research programs in the USA. When cancer is detected in time, an adequate diagnosis and the application of an effective treatment that increases the chances of cure can be established. This is the goal they have pursued since the Susan G. Komen San Diego® Foundation.
The commitment against cancer belongs to everyone, which is why Plakton joins the sponsor of "The Race of The Cure." In addition to participating in the race, we will have a stand within the enclosure where attendees can purchase our footwear, and for each pair of sandals sold we will allocate 3-5 dollars to the Susan G.
